Is doing a Masters lonely

The relationships you build at the beginning often feel a bit strained. Don’t feel like you have to stay with a group of friends just because you live with them. If you feel like you don’t quite fit in, try meeting new people, be they classmates or members of society.

Exercise is good for mental health. Whether you prefer to go to the gym, run, do yoga or play sports, it is all good for your brain and releases endorphins. It also allows you to get out of your bedroom and interact with the world.

Become a volunteer to avoid feeling lonely

Another great way to meet people and avoid loneliness is to find volunteer events on your campus and within your community.

Volunteer for recruitment activities and counseling activities at his school. Do you remember the people who were instrumental in your decision to go to the university you chose for your graduate studies? Remember how much having this student advisor meant to you your freshman year. Scholarship to help with recruiting visits and/or support incoming students. You will have someone who will be able to communicate with you and make a new friend.

You can also check to see if there are other volunteer opportunities on your campus. In the end, it’s worth it to be able to go to another building, help for an hour, 2-3 times a year, and only 3 hours of the lab for the entire academic year. Both you and the assistant will benefit, and the university will greatly appreciate it.

Comment les étudiants gèrent l’isolement social et la solitude

Alors, que pouvez-vous faire pour surmonter l’isolement social, la solitude et le cortège d’obstacles qui vont avec pour étudier abroad ?

One of the first things you can do as a socially isolated student abroad is keep in touch with family and friends back home. It could be as simple as using FaceTime or even sending a WhatsApp to your loved ones to banish your loneliness. So use technology to your advantage: Knowing that your parents are just a video call away can reduce anxiety and stress.

Continue with your usual hobbies

Are you a dancer? Do you play soccer? You are a musician?

A lot of people drop all of that during exam season. It is very tempting to do this so that you can focus on your studies. However, I encourage you not to give it your all. It’s a great reward for all your hard work and a place for social interaction. You need to be smart about what you can realistically handle while doing all the research you need to do.
