Students who double their degree obtain a degree in two academic disciplines. The total number of credits generally remains the same as a single-subject degree (at least 120 credits for a bachelor’s degree), and students who plan their studies carefully may not need to spend as much time in school to double their major.
Thoughts
Obtaining a diploma was an important educational achievement. Now that bachelor’s degrees are so popular, job seekers looking to distinguish themselves are turning to master’s degrees.
This makes more sense in some areas than in others. With such pressure on STEM education these days, some students who have earned a bachelor’s degree in STEM subjects are surprised to learn that many jobs require a master’s degree. (Graduate studies in science can come to Shark Week, if that’s the kind of thing that inspires you!)
