An anonymous electronic environment questionnaire was used to collect the data and the target population was all students (N = 51). The final sample consisted of 29 students. 14 students confirmed that they were progressing as expected and 15 students were progressing more slowly. 10 students declared having taken part in master’s thesis writing camps and 8 in joint supervision workshops. Students reported receiving great help from teachers and mentors, the curriculum, and their families during their studies. Internal motivation, the will and the ability to persevere and plan one’s time were almost as important. Students said they received more help from their supervisors, appropriate courses, teachers and peers to write theses. The main barriers to successful progress were high workloads, poor planning (time) skills, family issues, and difficulty in doing research. Students still need more supervision, including extra encouragement from supervisors, extra help and feedback in specific subjects (e.g. philosophy, methodology, data collection, writing academic), some additional concrete topics (e.g. research topics) and time planning. guide.
