Should you do a masters or a doctorate?

You can’t turn down a great opportunity and wait to see if it’s still there after your Masters. If you skip a master’s, you have a chance to get a place in the doctorate. What is a doctorate?
Although PhD is the abbreviation for Doctor of Philosophy, it does not mean that you have to achieve an advanced degree in philosophy. With a doctorate, you are considered an expert in your field and able to teach others at the bachelor’s or master’s level. The exact experience varies greatly depending on the chosen field of study, but doctoral programs are often much more rigorous than master’s programs, with a much greater emphasis on research and a final doctoral dissertation.
It can get tough here. A PhD can take between four and six years as a full-time student. However, this is only the PhD program. You can complete your bachelor’s degree and apply directly to a doctoral program, but you must have excellent qualifications to pass the application process. Additionally, many doctoral programs require a master’s degree in a relevant field to even apply. Therefore, many people do a master’s degree first (about 2 years) and then apply to a doctoral program. So if you add the time it takes to get your master’s, it can take up to 6-10 years to get your PhD.
