Do not think that you are limited to the list of subjects that the university shows you, think outside the box. Since you will have to work on your thesis for almost six months (or even longer in some cases), it is important that you find a topic that is broad enough to write about, and especially a topic that you like. Six months is definitely a long time to work on something you don’t like. My topic was the succession process within family businesses. I chose it because I knew that I wanted to write something in the area of family businesses and in combination with my internship, the topic took shape. You can choose to write your thesis at the university or at an external company, which I choose. In addition to writing my thesis, I also did an internship. I did my internship at Rabobank, which also helped me find my references, if you’re writing a qualitative thesis. Since writing your thesis is time consuming, look for a company that is flexible and puts your education first. Once you have written your proposal and your supervisor has approved it, the process can really begin. Having a good proposal can go a long way in your first chapter startup.

Boy, if I had a penny for every idea I tried to cover when I was writing my master’s thesis. I get it, you want to show your complete mastery of the subject that you like so much. But remember that you are writing a master’s thesis, not a dissertation. You have a very limited time to complete everything, so sticking to your drawing is the best choice you can make so far.

For example, I had a small cactus, an inspirational quote, a photo of my idol from the thesis theme, colored light pens, and chocolate supplies. I loved working in this little place. When I felt tired, watering the cacti and looking around would improve my mood. If you don’t have your own office, just find a place you like. This can be at home, in a coffee shop, or at a computer desk with a good view of the library. You know best, so don’t choose a nice home if you know a refrigerator or comfortable bed will soon distract you.
